Welcome here!
We are Brianna and Ben Folkman.
How we met
We didn’t know one another well when we we sang together at a wedding in 2012. The lakeside setting was beautiful and we were dressed up nice and fancy. But it was how we collaborated on the music that day that ignited our spark! Teamwork was our first connection point. Add vocal harmony and musical chemistry to a setting already infused with romantic undercurrents, and you could say our curiosity about one another was piqued! We will always remember the feelings we felt as Ben played his mandolin, our arms brushing with each strum ~ just electrifying! 😉
How we dated
We lived in different cities at the time. So after six weeks of good morning texts and long phone calls, we met in person again. That is when we began our very intentional two years of dating … you could call it a slow burn! Right from the start, we have been thoughtful and detailed in our approach to life together. It was important to us that we would make a good team and we wanted to do the hard work right from the get go. With realistic self analysis, honest sharing of our hearts, aligning in things about faith and future, and lots of time, we grew deeply in love!
When we were newlyweds
In our first couple years of marriage, we were both working full times jobs. Our roles at work began to highlight our shared adeptness at managing. Brianna was working in her dad’s Optometry practice and Ben was building a new department in the company he works for, Secure Rite Structures. Both of our positions were focused on creating and streamlining processes to keep our teams working efficiently and smoothly. We had a lot of fun talking about what we were trying at work, giving each other ideas, and connecting on our emerging passion for ‘a good system.’
Our family and home
Fast-forward six years and here we are with three kiddos! Ben continues to manage his team at Secure-Rite Structures, and Brianna is managing our FolkHome. We still love a good system, and in our family we talk about them now as rhythms.
We value family, our faith, teamwork, life rhythms, home intentionality, organization, and raising our kids in a home full of joy, rooted in love. Our desire is to flourish as a family and lean into togetherness, passions, purposeful work, and fun. We believe that consistent life rhythms and flexible frameworks can help empower and equip our kids to meet life with resilience and confidence, and invigorate a family and home! We definitely do not have it all figured out, not even close, but we are committed to learning! Consider this an invite to come alongside us and journey together.
